We accepted the conclusions, there was no settlement on altering the borders

Aleksandar Vučić, after plenary sessions, stated that the most important thing is that there is a consensus that the whole region is on the European path and that we should work together.

“We supported the intentions, wishes and pretensions of others in the Western Balkans to open a date for negotiations and visa liberalization,” Vucic said.

He pointed out that there were many things we did not agree on, and one issue that was crucial, he says, was the issue of changing the borders, about which there was no agreement.

As he explained, “in the region, some people interpret the change of borders in two different ways, as they like, and Serbia believes that they should not change outside the rules they have established.”

“Serbia has always advocated for not changing the borders recognized by the UN, an organization that is a universal body, and not to treat the borders as any country wants, according to the system, change is possible once, it cannot be done tomorrow,” Vucic said.

“Our initiative was not accepted, and we are satisfied with the rest of the text,” Vucic added.

He pointed out that some others asked for much more and were much more dissatisfied.

He emphasized that it was a decent and good meeting with many remarks.

“But we are used to that. First of all, there were them between Belgrade and Pristina, all of us with Sarajevo, and within BiH. Nothing new,” Vucic said.

“Decent relationship with Milanovic, I expect better with Croatia as well”

After the meeting of the leaders of the region, Vučić stated that he had decent relations with his Croatian colleague Zoran Milanović, as well as that they talked in a decent way.

He answered the journalist’s question about his meeting with Milanovic and added: “We know what his views are, he knows what our views are, there is nothing to add or subtract. We want good relations with Croatia, we don’t think that we have to flatter anyone in Croatia, nor that anyone from Croatia should flatter us. “

He said that in time, relations with Croatia will be better and that we will succeed in building them together, when we show greater respect for each other.

“I have no objections to his co-presidency today,” Vucic said.

The President left Brdo near Kranj for Brussels, where he is to meet with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Vučić left the summit of the leaders of the Western Balkans, within the Brdo-Brioni process, a little earlier due to previously scheduled obligations and a meeting with Stoltenberg.
