The vote has been completed and the results from across the United States will continue to flow. Democratic Party candidate and former Vice President Joe Biden takes on Republican Party candidate and incumbent President Donald Trump. California Senator Kamala Harris and Vice President Mike Pence are their respective running mates.
Biden leads Trump in the entire electoral college vote. But things can still change as the edges narrow in multiple battlefield conditions. Still, Trump moved courts in three states over the election census process. Voters have been asked to vote early this time, particularly through postal voting, to avoid queues amid the coronavirus pandemic. Now Biden leads with 264 votes, while Trump lags behind
More than 101 million early votes were cast. In addition, around 26.8 million postal ballot papers have to be returned to the electoral authorities. Thus, over 101 million votes would have been cast and recorded before election day. Before election day, voters had cast around 73.4 percent of the votes counted in the 2016 presidential election. However, counting postal ballot papers is more tedious and delays the result.
