If the United States imposes new sanctions against Russia, our country will not leave them unanswered, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Council of the Federation of Russia, Vladimir Jabarov, told Sputnik.
– If sanctions are introduced, Russia will not leave it without an answer that will be reciprocal. If our diplomats are expelled, then we will also be expelled from the appropriate positions – said Jabarov.
He pointed out that the final decision on that is made by the country’s leadership.
Jabarov added that Russia is not afraid of possible American sanctions against the state debt.
– This can affect our economy, but we will not be afraid of anything, we are already bored with that – said the senator.
At the same time, he noted that the American economy will also be seriously affected by sanctions against Russia’s sovereign debt.
– American investors will suffer serious losses, they are investing in it. Therefore, I think that this measure will not be realized – the senator concluded.
Earlier, “CNN” announced that the United States intends to expel Russian diplomats from Washington and New York, and that they will have 30 days to leave the country. Citing sources, the Bloomberg agency announced that the United States will impose sanctions on a dozen Russian citizens and 20 Russian organizations and expel ten Russian diplomats due to Moscow’s alleged interference in the elections and cyber attacks via “Solar Winds”. Sources stated that the United States could announce these measures as early as Thursday. According to the “New York Times”, the sanctions will also concern the state debt of Russia.
