Zelenski: Russia “reveals muscle mass” in Donbas
The President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, accused Russia of “showing muscles” in Donbas.
The head of the Ukrainian state announced that the conflict escalated in Donbas. In his opinion, Russia is creating an atmosphere of pressure on the negotiations.
“Showing muscles in the form of military exercises and potential provocations along the border is traditional for Russia,” Zelenski wrote on Facebook.
He added that Ukraine is ready for all kinds of provocations.
The commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ruslan Homchak, stated earlier that Kiev is considering all options in the east of the country, including the offensive.
Mine agreements
Negotiations between the leaders of the “Norman Four” states were held in Minsk on February 12, 2015. The Minsk agreements to resolve the situation in eastern Ukraine provide for a ceasefire, the withdrawal of heavy weapons from the contact line and constitutional reform, the key elements of which should be decentralization and the adoption of a law on the special status of Donbas.
The plan has not been fulfilled yet, because Ukrainian politicians are constantly postponing its implementation and even stating that it has only an advisory character, and not a binding one. Russia’s position is that there is no alternative to the Minsk agreements.
