The Jovicics exchanged Belgrade, where they lived for six years, for Trnov Laz, a place on the slopes of Vidojevica, from where the first store and doctor can be reached in two hours by driving on a dug, 20-kilometer-long road.
“I came here to my grandfather to continue working. I have 42 goats at the moment, it is profitable, of course we have the help of the state. They give us subsidies, which means a lot,” said Nenad Jovicic from Trnovo Laz.
Maja Jovicic says that they created a family, that they have four children. He adds that they decided to raise goats.
“It pays off a lot, we make cheese, we have cream, we have everything to pay to live here,” says Maja.
It can also be earned from fruit, but because of the bad road, it is difficult to sell it.

“No one will come to take them away. And when they give birth, you bring them to the birth, you work, then the problem and that. Regardless, we have the will. We work four hectares, this is what can be seen now, three more hectares are in preparation” Rade Vidic.
Life means a new path to them
These mountaineers have known for a long time that life means a way to them, that is why they have repeatedly addressed the authorities in Prokuplje for its arrangement.

“I hope that they will see and hear that the mountain is still alive, because there are a lot of young people and a lot of small children,” expects Predrag Jovicic, also from Trnovo Laz.
This winter, they were cut off from the world due to snow and ice, which created additional problems for them.
“For three weeks, we all gather from the village and cut the road, as we do today. So we have to save ourselves,” Rade Novović was determined.
Dejan Tonić, Deputy Mayor of Prokuplje, states that they are looking to help them in the field of road repairs, but also in expanding and improving agricultural production in order to keep these young people in the countryside.
Natural resources provide a good basis for the development of this area. The fact that there are six students from Trnovo Laz in the school in neighboring Tovrljan speaks of hope.
