On the occasion of the announced visit to Belgrade and Pristina of the European mediator for dialogue on Kosovo and Metohija Miroslav Lajcak and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe Matthew Palmer, Ivica Dacic told TV Pink that it is realistic to expect the EU and the US to act together in the Western Balkans. , he says, changed their relationship.
Dacic pointed out that he expects heavy pressure regarding the resolution of the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, but said that, however, the situation on the ground is different now and that Serbia is no longer in a situation to “just listen and see how the masters react.”
“The pressure will increase, but everything depends on the political leadership that is in Belgrade, and we will not agree to blackmail. If someone plans to bring a non-paper to Serbia, let them not waste time,” Dacic emphasized.
He pointed out the repeated position of President Aleksandar Vučić that Serbia wants a compromise and an agreement, but that it does not accept any blackmail that would imply the recognition of Kosovo.
“We have always been in favor of dialogue, we have never been in favor of signing something without later adhering to it as Pristina did. There will be heavy pressure, but if someone wants a correct relationship, we are here,” Dacic said.
Asked whether the “non-paper” might be the result of the announced visits of Lajcak and Palmer, Dacic said that those visits could be explained by the fact that the elections in Kosovo took place and to see what the situation will be when it comes to continuing the dialogue. but that more than that cannot be expected because, as he said, the government in Pristina has not yet been formed.
“That government will be very extreme, they refused any dialogue, nothing is optimistic now in the sense that the Albanian side is innocent, and that someone sees the culprit in us, that is no longer the case,” said Dacic.
The first activity in the inter-party dialogue on Monday
Ivica Dačić also said that the first activity in the inter-party dialogue will be realized on Monday, March 1 – a video conference at which, as the President of the Assembly of Serbia, he will talk with the delegation of the European Parliament led by David McAllister.
After that, says Dacic, a dialogue with the parties will be scheduled and he points out that, if non-parliamentary parties participate, not only the so-called boycott of the opposition should be called for, but all parties that are important on the political scene.
Dacic stated that the outcome of the dialogue should be to consider whether and what needs to be improved in the election conditions, and stressed that he is ready to conduct a dialogue that should be concrete, not principled, and “stick to political tirades.”
As he said, part of the opposition expects that the EP will be on their side within the inter-party dialogue and blackmail the government to accept their requests, about which, he says, he was not informed, but has already heard in the media.
“We will have activities in the inter-party dialogue, but I will not allow it to become a spectacle, with everything I do in the background, the fight for people’s lives and vaccination, the economy, the fight against crime and corruption, the issue of regional stability and protection of ours.” of national and state interest “, Dačić emphasized.
