Explosion within the Bulgarian weapons manufacturing unit, three useless
Two powerful explosions rocked the Arsenal weapons factory in Kazanlak, Bulgarian media reported, stating that the cause of the accident is still unknown.
At least three people were killed in the explosions, while several others were injured.
Rescue teams and an ambulance were immediately sent to the scene of the explosion.
The Arsenal weapons factory was mentioned a few months ago in a heated exchange of accusations between the authorities and the opposition, which claimed that automatic rifles and ammunition from Kazanlak were being secretly transported to Ukraine.
The then Bulgarian government dismissed these claims as unfounded.
The opposition cited Kazanlak as one of the points where weapons are loaded onto trucks, from where they are delivered to the Ukrainian armed forces via Poland.
About 5,000 people are employed in the Arsenal factory, which produces Bulgarian versions of “Kalashnikovs”, grenade launchers, mortars, anti-aircraft guns and various types of ammunition.
