RTS :: Enthroned Bishop Jerotej of Šabac
The solemn act was attended by the bishop’s friends from all over the country.
The newly elected Bishop Jerotej (Petrović) of Sabac was born in 1971. He finished elementary school in Mačvanska Mitrovica, high school in Sremska Mitrovica, and the Higher Electrical Engineering School in Belgrade in 1997.
After military service, he joined the Brotherhood of the Holy Archangels in 1998, and graduated from the Theological Faculty of the SPC in Belgrade in 2009.
During his studies, he was ordained as a monk in 2003 by Bishop Irinej of Bač, receiving the monastic name Jerotej.
At the regular session of the Bishops’ Assembly of the Serbian Orthodox Church, held in 2021, he was elected vicar of the Patriarch of Serbia with the title Bishop of Toplički, and this year, to the position of bishop of Šabac, instead of the deceased bishop Lavrentije, who was archbishop for almost five and a half decades in the country and scattering.
