Famous composer and pianist, who died on September 13 at the age of 81was buried in the Alley of meritorious citizens at the New Cemetery in Belgrade.
Colleagues and friends of Kornelij Kovač, earlier today at the commemoration in the ceremonial hall of the City Assemblypointed out that there would be no youth if it wasn’t for Bata Kovac.
He could have created a hit at any time if he wanted to, but his goal was to create music and experiment.
Kornelije Kovač marked the golden age of entertainment and pop music former Yugoslavia and Serbia and composed the poetry of our best poets.
“Kornelije Kovač kept his diary every day. Every day he wrote in it the time that surrounds him, the family he loves, friends, the country he belongs to. Every day for at least the last 60 years, Bata has marked the traces of time, his life and ours with his hand and his notes,” said actor Svetozar Cvetković in his speech at the commemoration.
