New officers are an enormous reinforcement for the Serbian Military
U a total of 135 cadets will be promoted to the first officer ranks The Military Academy and the Medical Faculty of the Academy of Medical Sciences, among which are eight cadets from the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina and one from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Srpska.
Nebojša Stefanović said in a guest appearance in RTS’s Jutarnji dnevnik that during their training, new officers passed about 50 different exams and were on eight to 20 different field assignments.
“I’m glad to see that they also achieved good results because when you look at that, it’s over 50 exams in four, five or six years, depending on whether they’re in the Army, Air Force or Military Medical Academy, and from eight to 20 trips to the field “, Stefanović states and adds that all this is serious preparation for what we expect from them, which is to protect and defend their country at all times.
He indicated that the new 135 officers who will be promoted are a great reinforcement for the Serbian Armed Forces (SAF) and that they show an increasing interest in military service.
We have a huge variety of occupations, he adds, that can satisfy young people with good salaries and the possibility to advance in the service and acquire new knowledge and skills.
“We have a really wide range of opportunities. In the army, you have a serious opportunity for personnel and career advancement because when young people come to us, they can be engineers, they can work at the Military Technical Institute, they can be part of projects that will create new aircraft, tanks, airplanes , missiles. So, they affect what the army’s capability will look like in the future,” says Stefanović
He added that the army is fighting for young, quality and capable people to find their place in the army, whether they are doctors, engineers, IT specialists, tank operators, or artillerymen.
“We are trying to attract everyone, we need a pilot and a tank driver, an infantryman and a doctor. But we also need those who will be in the artillery, infantry, special units of our army. Of course it is a struggle, but if you give them a decent salary, if you give them a very cheap price per square meter of an apartment where they will build their family and life in the future, that is an incentive for young people to join the ranks of our army,” says Stefanović.
He pointed out that the Ministry owes a great debt of gratitude to President Vučić, who, as he said, understands well what the needs of soldiers are, and who approved a 25 percent salary increase for soldiers since January.
He also pointed out that the Serbian Army has been completely modernized.
“We bought new planes, helicopters, artillery-missile systems, equipment, to improve and modernize everything they do,” says the minister.
It indicates that the interest of young people in the army grows every year.
“Because they see that their army is getting stronger, and the army is the guarantor of a strong and sovereign Serbia,” concluded Stefanović.
