The Polish girl confirmed her brutal dominance – Šviontekova additionally gained the US Open

The match lasted one hour and 50 minutes, and the Pole won the third Grand Slam trophy in her career, after winning twice at Roland Garros (in 2020 and 2022).

Šviontekova won the last 20 sets in the finals that she played on the VTA tour, and with her triumph in the “big apple” she collected 3.8 million dollars.

“I’m most proud of the fact that I don’t break down mentally in important moments. After matches like this, even if I lose, I don’t regret anything because I know I gave 100 percent. I’m also proud of the fact that – from a tennis point of view – I have more of different solutions and options on the court, I use my skills in the right way. I’m especially proud of that because I know how it feels to have no idea on the court, when you can’t do anything to change the match,” Šviontekova said.

As far as the match itself is concerned, two different sets were seen – in the first Iga completely dominated from the score 2:2, while in the second a much bigger fight was seen.

The Tunisian twice managed to return the break from behind, she attracted the crowd to her side, but she did not have the strength to further complicate the duel against the currently best player on the planet.

“I realized at the beginning of the season that I could have some good results in the WTA tournaments, and I reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open. However, I wasn’t sure if I was at the level to win a concrete slam, especially at the US Open, where the surface is very fast. I didn’t expect that, but for me this is a confirmation that the sky is the limit,” concluded Iga Svyontek.

Jaber was also defeated in the second consecutive Grand Slam final, as she was previously without a title at Wimbledon after losing to Elena Rybakina with 3:6, 6:2, 6:2.

In the US final in the men’s competition from 22:00, the Norwegian Kasper Rud and the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz will meet, and the winner will be the new world number one.
