The People current eight navy helicopters to the Czechs

The US Embassy announced that they are “pleased to confirm the transfer of six AH-1Z and two UH-1Y helicopters.

The helicopters are being delivered in addition to 12 previously ordered and will be free, except for transfer and upgrade costs, with the aircraft due to arrive in 2023, the embassy said on Twitter.

Czech Defense Minister Jana Cernohova said, in a comment on this announcement, that it turned out that “the country’s clear and unwavering positions since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine have paid off”, reported Hospodarzhska Novini.

“Not only have we gained the respect of our allies for our efforts to help Ukraine, but we have also received their support in the modernization of our army,” the Czech minister emphasized.

The Czech Republic is seeking to accelerate the modernization of its post-Soviet-era military, including a helicopter fleet, and has donated surplus weapons to Ukraine.
