RTS :: Ju group – greater than 50 years of pure rock and roll
This great band will be joined on stage by a large number of musicians, colleagues from all over Yugoslavia, who will all present during an exciting and dynamic campaign for the concert, which will last the whole summer, with a handful of surprises. only love and simplicity” have kept them going all these years.
About the Ju group, Peca Popović said:
“The years when music was important, not bućkurish, lead to the past. In the days when the Ju group was formed, I am a witness, I know them from the beginning, practically before the Big Bang! Reality can sometimes break the solidity of memory foam. A rush of anxious sadness reminds me that in the truth of the Ju Group, there is a lot of my life’s truth. All the most beautiful things that could be experienced in the domestic period, I lived with the Jelics and their accomplices in that great journey through time and trials. They succeeded because they were outplayed only after they did not renounce their uncompromising nature, loved because they were never defeated on stage, respected because they remained honest…”
Ju group is the band that has been around for the longest time in this area and was the first to start combining rock music with elements of traditional music from the Balkans.
From its founding in 1970 until today, led by the indestructible brothers Žika and Dragi Jelić, having gone through numerous phases and lineups, where the guitarist Petar Jelić has been the third pivot for the last three decades, Ju Group has released a number of important albums, from the debut “Ju Group” (1973) to the last “Evo stojim tu” (2016), on which, as well as several singles, anthology songs were recorded, such as “Crni leptir”, “Cudna šuma”, “Kosovo peonies”, “Od zlata jabuka” , “Sailor”, “Winds are still whipping along the Danube”. On the half-century anniversary, a box set of all 13 albums, a total of 134 songs, is being released, a joint release of PGP RTS and Jugoton/Croatia records.
The group was founded in the fall of 1970 by Dragi and Žika Jelić, organist Miodrag Mive Okrugić and drummer Velibor Boka Bogdanović, under the working name Idejni posed. At a performance in the Zemun club “Synagoga” on November 29 of the same year, disc jockey Zoran Modli invited the audience to choose their name. Miroslav Stanivuk’s proposal was accepted and from that evening they became the “Ju” group. Years later, they played regular birthday concerts on November 29, Republic Day.
The concert is jointly organized by Studio Berar from Novi Sad and Marsh Production from Belgrade.
